SERVICES
InHaus
Design Ltd provides an independent design service specialising
in contemporary SIP/timber architecture and timber structure.
With experience in SIP and timber frame construction, the focus
is on producing appropriate solutions which bring together the
requirements of the client, engineer and frame designer.
InHaus Design Ltd will work as part of your design team early
on in the process to draft a SIP/timber frame strategy. This
allows the project to take into account some of the key issues
with timber frame and therefore facilitate the exploration of
design alternatives at an early stage. This approach helps to
reduce the amount of drawing changes later on in the project,
as well as increase the quality of the solution.
Once the basic strategy/design for the frame has been established
a set of accurate general arrangement drawings can be produced.
These would normally communicate the extent of the SIP/timber
frame, its relationship to other elements, timber sizes and
basic setting out dimensions. These drawings can be released
to the relevant parties for an initial approval, including a
structural appraisal from the engineer. This procedure allows
feedback and changes to be more easily absorbed into the drawings
before the detailed workshop drawings are produced.
With the general arrangement drawings amended and approved by
all parties, the workshop information can be added. This would
include detailed dimensions, geometry layout and additional
information. These drawings can then be issued for final approval
before fabrication of the panels.
In some cases it may be desirable to produce more information
than is shown on the frame drawings. This would be true if joint
details and specifications are required for a traditionally
jointed frame or if the project involves unusual or new jointing
methods. If steel is used in the joints or frame it is often
useful to have the geometry and layout of these elements produced
so that their critical relationship to the timber is observed.
Complex building geometry can produce unusual timber shapes,
especially when curved elements are involved. In these cases
elemental drawings for the timber components are often the best
way of presenting this information.
The
design of the SIP/timber frame or whole building can be loosely
or accurately modelled in 2D to produce images in a variety
of media for design exploration, communication and approval.
These would include high quality still images. Still image media
can be supplied in digital format or on full colour prints.
If the frame design is sufficiently advanced at the time the
model is produced, this model can be used as the basis for the
next stages in the process.
InHaus
Design Ltd are currently the only an established and recognised
Kingspan TEK® Building System Designers. We are also regularly
used by Kingspan Off-Site for the technical design of schemes
using the system. We both have been designing schemes using
the system for a number of years, having been originally trained
by Kingspan.
